Vigil: The Age of Endless Night
A downloadable game
Vigil is a bleak sci-fi role-playing game set trillions of years into the future. An enigmatic entity known as the Visitor granted humans total immortality long ago, and death has been forgotten. Humanity desperately clings to civilization even after the stars have sputtered into nothingness, using the body's endlessly generating flesh as fuel for their continued existence. Life aboard the ship has become an unconscionable dystopia, where things like cannibalism and the destruction of one's own brain are the norm. Play as a group of humans aboard the Vigil, where your values determine your goals and actions aboard the ship.
Vigil has an innovative setting and ruleset for tabletop gaming. Instead of death, players stave off an amnesiac depression known as breaking. Instead of levelling up, players foster hope between one another. The game also boasts special systems for a myriad of occurrences, including factions, disguises, the synthesis of raw matter into usable goods, and siphoning blood into machines to power them. Vigil has a fully functional combat system that is not quite like anything else on the market. Target individual parts of the human body to inflict crippling disabilities, or destroy a person's will to live by torturing them with pain damage. Pilot one of five terrifying classes: the Engineer, Faithful, Mutant, Ferroconductor, and Incindian. Choose values for your party to live by, and suffer the consequences for abandoning them. Interface directly with macabre machines, powered by your own blood. Build rapport with individuals and groups and call in favors with them, unleashing powerful allies on your foes.
